Welcome...to a new look Sarnia Mutual
Oct 06, 2016
This year we reached our 85th year in business. From small beginnings in 1932, through the occupation and beyond, we have grown to become one of the local lenders of choice for thousands of islanders.
Our award winning, locally based team are happy to provide you with a warm and relaxed approach to lending the money that you need; whether it is for an unexpected bill, a consolidation loan or even a holiday.
We are dedicated to helping generations of locals with their financing needs and intend to do so for many years to come. You can trust our discretion and fairness.
I want to thank you for visiting our website and I hope that we hear from you soon.
Don’t just take our word for it, while we think we are the best, why not see what our customers have to say about us! Here are a few of the many testimonials that we have received. If you would like to add your own testimonial to the website, we’d love to hear from you. Either, email us at [email protected], or pop in and fill in one of our cards!

We have a caring team that are here to help
Sally has been MD since 2014. Her background is in banking and small business. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, a good book, a nice piece of cake and gardening. Her latest creative project is hand sewing a patchwork quilt…
Sally enjoys singing and is a member of two local choirs, you may spot her singing at a concert with The Sarnian Singers or singing with the GYCT Singers, along the seafront at the Seafront Sunday events. Occasionally, she joins Michelle for a spot of Karaoke!
Jon joined the company in 2010. Jon is the Office Manager and our resident Technical expert. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children. He practises the martial arts of Brazilian Ju Jitsu and Aikido and is occasionally found walking, fishing and kayaking around the coast of “our lovely island”.
Debbie has been working at Sarnia Mutual since 2014 as an accountant. She has spent 10 years in Singapore with her husband who is still working there. Debbie has 3 children, 2 of which currently live in the UK. She spends much of her spare time organising tournaments for Guernsey Touch Rugby. Sarnia Mutual is proud to have sponsored some of the youth teams involved.
Michelle is our longest serving staff member, having been with us since September 2001. Her calm, friendly manner and her understanding of our customers’ needs makes her a very popular member of staff and this is reflected in the many excellent reviews she receives. In her spare time, Mich enjoys swimming, camping and singing Karaoke with her friends at The London House.
Fiona has been with Sarnia Mutual since early 2016 but had previously worked for the company back in 1996! Fiona brings with her a wealth of experience during her years of working in the Finance Industry. When she is not working, Fiona loves to spend her time with her husband and her little Shih Tzu, Pickles. Fiona’s personal money tip is “if you haven’t got the money to buy something, either save up or come to Sarnia Mutual for a loan!”
Debbie joined the company in September 2016. She has worked in the Finance Industry since 2014. She is a people person and loves dealing with customers. On her return from a cruise with her family, Debbie got a little Chihuahua puppy called Jesse, which her dad and brother also adore. When she is not at work, Debbie spends her spare time looking after, and walking, Jesse. She also enjoys a spot of retail therapy! Debbie’s favourite quote is ‘Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring’ - Marilyn Monroe
